Studies show that tuning PID controllers regularly provides significant economic benefit. Even so a 2019 survey conducted by Control Station found that only 27% of practitioners apply the best-practice of tuning PID controllers at least once per year. The top two reasons: Lack of training and experience, and software that is difficult to use.
